Iraq Labor Solidarity Fund Appeal
without resources, computers or office equipment . . .
in defiance of Saddam Hussein’s still existing anti-union laws
(enforced first by the U.S.-run Occupation Authority, then by the Interim Iraqi Governing Authority and now by the current Iraqi government) . . .
- without legal rights
- in defiance of and subject to government interference in their internal affairs, harassment, repression and abuse by the Iraqi authorities –
These courageous trade unionists need and deserve our help!
US Labor Against the War has established the Iraqi Labor Solidarity Fund to financially support these emerging unions so they can build a free, independent, democratic labor movement in Iraq.
We can help provide resources to enable Iraqi workers to defend themselves against the invasion of U.S. and other multinational corporations – like Bechtel, Halliburton, and Stevedoring Services of America, Blackwater – the same anti-union companies we face at home.
We can help them build a democratic, labor-friendly, secular Iraq – one that provides peace, justice, dignity and prosperity for all its population regardless of religious or ethnic affiliation – an Iraq that is a “free union zone” rather than a free trade zone.
Let’s build worker-to-worker solidarity!
