This poster will be available at the Rally that opens the National Labor Conference Against the Iraq War, December 2, 2006, at 2:45 p.m. on the Federal Plaza in downtown Cleveland. Assemble at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 2:00 for a march that starts promptly at 2:30 p.m.
The rally is expected to last about one hour. It will feature such notable speakers as --
The opening plenary of the Conference will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel immediately following the rally at 4:00 p.m. Phyllis Bennis, noted Middle East policy expert from the Institute for Policy Studies, will speak about the current situation and the prospects for resolving the crisis.
A public program will take place at 7:00 Saturday evening in the hotel Grand Ballroom. Among the speakers will be John Wilhelm, President of the Hospitality Division of UNITE HERE and John Ryan, Exec. Secy. of the North Shore Federation of Labor (formerly Cleveland AFL-CIO). Labor troubador Anne Feeney will perform.
The Conference is open to all who oppose the military occupation of Iraq and want to bring our troops home. It will continue into Sunday with workshops, caucuses and other speakers. The registration fee is $25, which includes Sunday lunch. The Saturday evening program is open to all; a $10 donation is requested (but no one turned away for lack of funds).
